Drunken Brisket

Printer Friendly Version

Ingredients:

1 large onion, sliced and separated into rings
1 (4lbs) beef brisket, trimmed of fat
3/4 tsp pepper
3/4 cup beer
1/2 cup chili sauce
3 tablespoons brown sugar
2 (or more) cloves garlic, crushed
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
3 tablespoons water

Place onion rings in a 4 qt slow cooker (crockpot). Rub pepper all over the brisket and place the brisket on top of the onions (you may need to cut the brisket in half to fit). Combine beer and the next 3 ingredients, pour over brisket. Cover and cook on high 4-6 hours or 8-12 hours on low. Remove brisket to a serving platter. Combine flour and water, stirring well; slowly whisk into juices in slow cooker. Cook uncovered, on high 5 minutes or until thickened, stirring often. Serve sauce over brisket.
